It takes no equity
Working with wood is peaceful. Once you learn its mechanics and become acquainted with its subtleties, you never have to worry about those dynamics changing. It doesn’t respond to every heartbeat of the economy. No org changes or leadership debacles will alter its mission. Working with wood is a language that only deepens with time and you can depend on its continuity. You can count on the grain always running lengthwise. You can count on its tendency to warp under different environmental conditions. It’s strength will always be just so. Wood does not consider its competition but stays elegantly pure to its place in the world. Wood is simple. It is a blank canvas. It is ubiquitous and silent. It gives its life yet takes no equity in what it produces: Oxygen, art, warmth, comfort, entertainment. It serves us food and plays us music. It sees no change as the world evolves around it. As debates rage, it stands still and accepts its destiny. No fighting for power, no backstabbing or conspiracy.
Take me to the trees.
